This is a series of books about life in Australia – one for each year from 1939. They describe happenings that affected people, real people. The whole series, to coin a modern phrase, is designed to push your buttons, to make you remember and wonder at things forgotten.
The books might just let nostalgia see the light of day, so that oldies and youngies will talk about the past and re-discover a heritage otherwise forgotten. Hopefully, they will spark discussions between generations, and foster the asking and answering of questions that should not remain unanswered.
In 1959, Billy Graham called us to God. The Kingsgrove Slasher was getting blanket press coverage. Tea, not coffee, was still the housewife’s friend. Clergy were betting against the opening of TABs. Errol, a Tasmanian devil, died. So too did Jack Davey. There are three ways to kill a snake. Aromarama is coming to your cinema.

No photos inside - very disappointing
Gave this to my husband for birthday gift he got a lot of enjoyment from looking back at his birth year.
Books hold great interesting historical information, great for history buffs and a good birthday present, I expected pictures inside though and not just on the cover, so was a little disappointed with that.
Great gift idea
Thank you for a history lesson
