This is  a series of books about life in Australia – one for each year from 1939. They describe happenings that affected people, real people. The whole series, to coin a modern phrase, is designed to push your buttons, to make you remember and wonder at things forgotten.

The books might just let nostalgia see the light of day, so that oldies and youngies will talk about the past and re-discover a heritage otherwise forgotten. Hopefully, they will spark discussions between generations, and foster the asking and answering of questions that should not remain unanswered.

In 1972, it was ‘Time’ for a change in Federal Government as Whitlam brought Labor back from the dead, and in our relations with China, “Number 96” won the TV credits, women got equal pay for equal work, and call-up of Nashos ended.

1972

No pictures. Not really news but rather people stories harder to read as crammed in. Very disappointed. Sorry

I thought they would be bigger and have a few photos, but still pleased with them and they are a unique gift

Disappointed

I had some excitement when I ordered these for my dad and myself. Found them disappointing as there were no pictures, newspaper articles etc for the years. All writing and the content was a bit boring.

I was disappointed that there were no pictures of special events during the year through the book such as the ones on the front cover
