The Australia Remember When shop is all about nostalgia!
You may be surprised to learn that until recent times, nostalgia was considered to be unhealthy. Most experts agreed that dwelling on the past rather than living in the present, of comparing how things once were with how they are now, was best avoided and even considered a trigger for depression.
Since the turn of this century however, nostalgia is being recognised in a new light and considerable research is being undertaken in the United States and Europe into its possible use as a tool in the battle against anxiety, clinical depression and even Alzheimer's.
So, if nostalgia is good for you, let's celebrate!
I am passionate about almost all things nostalgic. When I look at the world I live in now and compare it in my mind's eye with the world in which I grew up back in the 50s, 60s, 70s and even 80s, it's like being on a different planet. So much has changed...and sadly, not always for the better. But if we can keep some of the best bits of the past and enjoy the best bits of the present, it seems like the perfect mix for the future.
With the Australia Remember When Shop I wanted to create an online store where lovers of nostalgia can find books, music, movies and TV shows from the past all in one place. In the months and years to come I'll be scouring the country looking for lost and treasured items that will bring back the happy memories of childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, early marriage and parenting days.
I hope you will visit the shop often and find a treasure that will bring a smile to your face, joy to your heart and happiness to your soul.
